Gabriela Kuehn

Spring 2020 Engagement Scholarship Recipient

My name is Gabriela and I am a Junior in the College of Education and Human Development studying Business Marketing Education. I am lucky enough to have gotten the opportunity to spend the semester in Florence Italy! Being here has allowed me to get not only a taste of Italian culture, but European culture as a whole. This experience has also expanded my knowledge on international markets and their relations with the United States, which I know can only help me in future places of work.

One of my favorite aspects of the program is that it is very hands-on. In every one of my classes, we have gotten the opportunity to learn outside of the classroom, by taking various field trips and talking to local business owners, or visiting museums. The class sizes are also a lot smaller here than they are back home and it has allowed me to form meaningful relationships with my professors as well as my peers. If I could give advice to someone considering doing this program, it would be to take advantage of the opportunity. I know the fear of being away from home can be scary but while being here I have become very close to people in my program as well as faculty. The teachers and workers at Accent make it apparent that they genuinely care about their students' experience, not only in the class but outside of class and are always willing to talk. Overall the experience is one that has changed my life and that I will never forget.
