By receiving this student engagement opportunity and scholarship has improved and enhanced my engagement activity in many ways. As a student, it is often difficult to balance school, work/career, extracurriculars, and personal development – trying to balance all of this imposes hardships on one’s time-management and financial situations. Receiving this scholarship allowed me to better focus on my academics and relief a little stress off from working and trying to provide for myself financially. I have been engaged by actively reaching out to people that are also in the NSE (National Student Exchange) program as well and learning about the island and culture. Being able to learn about another culture is really eye-opening because it makes me realize why people are the way they are, based on location and how life is around them.
During my time here so far, I was able to appreciate nature and what the island has to offer. There is definitely growth in my personal development, and I continue to keep exploring new locations and learning about different cultures. This scholarship has been a great opportunity not just in aiding me with tuition, but gives me an opportunity to focus on my experience here.
